Math…

My friend Fernando patiently shares his passion and knowledge for math with me at his former apartment.

What?

The day after Christmas 2009, an injured raccoon limps down a street of my Woodland Heights neighborhood.

Cheers!

Manuel Fernández (founder’s grandson) shows me Ron del Barrilito aging cellar filled with charred oak barrels containing aged rums of up to 40-years old. I stopped drinking about two years ago but my sister (Rosibel) and I split a case (for friends and colleagues) of the very fragrant ‘3 Star’ blend. Because of the high [...]

Golden Axe Rocks!

Houston’s own Warren Hatfield (guitar) and James Love (drums) of Golden Axe shred through an awesome metal set Saturday April 10, 2010 at Rudyard’s Pub (in the Montrose). I ended up buying their limited double 7″ vinyl release (68/300) a few weeks later at Cactus Music to only wish I had digital versions to rock [...]

Peel me a grape.

Abuela (my dad’s mother) peels a fresh mango picked from a cousin’s property in Ponce, Puerto Rico for her husband John Jay.

Storytime

This photo was taken at an exhibition titled “DARe to go FURther“, by the visual art’s collective UUPA Crust (Robert Hodge, Lovie Olivia and Michael Kahlil Taylor). This piece was just one of the works featured at the Lawndale Art Center exhibit held January 22–February 27, 2010.

Wolf whistle…

Grackles at Luquillo Beach, Puerto Rico look upwards to a tree filled with a few other blackbirds for the source of my imitative whistling sounds.

Sky’s the limit… for now.

My best guess says this photograph was taken somewhere over Florida. Shot from the porthole window of an airplane bound for Houston. The plane departed San Juan, Puerto Rico just eight days after the tragic Haitian earthquake of 2010.
