Offices of Ron del Barrilito

Manuel Fernández (founder’s grandson) shows me Ron del Barrilito aging cellar filled with charred oak barrels containing aged rums of up to 40-years old. I stopped drinking about two years ago but my sister (Rosibel) and I split a case (for friends and colleagues) of the very fragrant ‘3 Star’ blend. Because of the high cost associated with legally distilling rum, the Fernández family buys it’s raw newly distilled spirits from Bacardi (about 2 miles away in Cataño, Puerto Rico). The spirits are then blended and aged using the family’s secret age old process. The owner’s impromptu tour of the Bayamón rum blending facility gave us a new appreciation for their masterful blending craft and left me with a strong desire to indulge in their aromatic rum. If the taste is anything like the aroma then this rum must taste out of this world good. Cheers!
